Koala Conservation Day 14 November
November 14 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
EVENT LIMITED TO MEMBERS AND TICKET HOLDERS OF CANCELED EVENTS.
Help to maintain koala habitat in the You Yangs by removing Boneseed weeds.
Covid-19 update: This activity may change if restrictions are lifted. If restrictions are still in place our groups will be reduced (max of 10 people), transport options are limited to travel in your own car*, and we have created some social distance boundaries on the day. We are no longer providing use of shared binoculars or gardening gloves, and all participants must bring their own gardening gloves, and a reusable drinking cup if they want coffee or tea.
Participants will be weeding in the outdoors. You will be given remote guidance by a leader, but you will be allocated patches to remove weeds only in the company of your own family, or by yourself. At the end of the weeding activity, morning tea will be conducted sitting on logs at a distance from each other. You will visit Koalas in small groups and keeping social distancing rules.
From September to May, we maintain koala habitat in the You Yangs by removing Boneseed weeds. We allow 1.5 hours for this activity. Boneseed removal is chemical-free, doesn’t need any special equipment and is easy! Part of the day will be spent watching wild koalas in their natural habitat. You will be accompanied by two wildlife professionals who will guide you through the You Yangs regional park. We will also introduce you to the koalas known from 20 years of koala research in the area.
BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL – Please check our email sent on November 6 for instructions on how to reschedule your ticket. Contact us at email@example.com if you haven’t received the email.
