Koala Conservation Day September 5 – Tree Planting!
September 5 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm
Help to create koala habitat on the Western Plains of Melbourne.
From June to mid-September, we plant koala trees. The aim of the day is to plant 1,000 trees. We allow at least 3 hours for this activity, which occurs on private properties throughout the Western Plains and Golden Pains, West of Melbourne.
Participants will be planting trees in the outdoors. You will be given guidance by a leader, and you can be allocated a patch to plant only in the company of your own family, friends, or by yourself if you prefer.
Morning tea and lunch will usually be on picnic blankets outdoors. Dress warm.
Note: Tree planting is a rewarding activity that requires some fitness, ability to walk on uneven terrain, carry equipment, bend over and use hammers. Participants should be willing to work in all weather conditions.
The meeting place for the day will be confirmed via email closer to the date as planting is conducted in different locations. All properties are a 45min-1h drive from Melbourne CBD. As planting occurs on private properties, please meet us at the designated meeting point and don’t be late – we do not share the property address.
What to bring? Drinking water, packed lunch & morning tea, reusable drinking mug, gardening gloves, sunscreen and insect repellant. Gumboots are highly recommended. We also recommend a change of dry clothes in case it rains.
