Koala Tree Planting 23 July
July 23 @ 9:30 am - 2:00 pm
Plant trees to create habitat for wild koalas. Enjoy a day of wellness in the outdoors, connecting with nature and helping Koalas. Help us save wild koalas in the You Yangs and the Western Plains.
UPDATE due to Coronavirus: This activity has changed. Our groups are much smaller (max 10 at any time), transport options are limited to travel in your own car*, and we have created some social distance boundaries on the day. We are no longer providing use of shared binoculars or gardening gloves, and all participants must bring a reusable drinking cup if they want coffee or tea.
Participants will be planting trees in the outdoors. You will be given guidance by a leader, but you will be allocated patches to plant in a small team of 10. Morning tea and lunch will be conducted sitting on steps, seats and on the lawn (weather permitting) at a distance from each other.
From June to August, we plant koala trees. We allow 1.5 to 2 hours for this activity, which occurs on private properties throughout the region. This property is far from the You Yangs, so there will be a nature walk after planting, but we might not see koalas.
Locals: $30 adults, $20 children/student/concession (Children must be accompanied by an adult).
Tourists: $120 *
Meeting place is 9.30am at Anakie General Store. Please be there at least 5 minutes before that, we won’t wait for latecomers and our phones will be switched off.
