Raymond Island Koala Tree Planting Trip

September 30 @ 8:00 am - October 3 @ 6:00 pm

Koala Clancy event
BOOKINGS & ENQUIRIES: Please email info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au.
Plant trees over an extended weekend for wildlife and help research wild koalas on Raymond Island in the Gippsland Lakes.
  • Join locals to plant native trees on the island. The mission is to plant 1500 native trees over the weekend, have some fun and learn about koalas.
  • Take walks with researchers and help set up the island’s first citizen science wild koala research project.
  • The area has been affected by drought for several years, and many trees have died as a result of over browsing. Planting trees on Raymond Island will benefit all wildlife, koalas included.
  • This area was not directly affected by the bushfires, and the koala population here is thriving. Improving biodiversity on the island will help a lot of wildlife species to recolonise bushfire-impacted parts of Gippsland nearby.
Note: this is a volunteer excursion to help koalas and wildlife, and all participants will be needed to contribute to every activity. Tree planting is a rewarding activity that requires some fitness, ability to walk on uneven terrain, carry equipment, bend over, and use hammers. Participants should be willing to work in all weather conditions.
