Seed Sowing – 16 January
January 16 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
Help us sow the seeds for koalas’ future! January is the best time to sow the seeds of our koala trees for the year: River Red Gums, Grey Box & Red Box gum trees that we will plant in June, July & August. Its fun and easy, and everyone can help – no matter how old you are!
Join us on a special edition of our Koala Conservation Days and be prepared to get your hands dirty. You will be filling little seedling pots with soil, sprinkling eucalyptus seed over the top, or washing pots.
Our team will look after them until they are big enough to be planted by our volunteers in winter months beside a river near the You Yangs, so that Koala babies can have a home!
Seed sowing is very rewarding and requires no experience at all.
We allow 1.5 to 2 hours for this activity, which will be followed by a nature walk in the Brisbane Ranges.
Covid-19 update: This activity is limited to 30 people. City pick-up service is available with limited seats. Volunteers also have the option to travel in their own car. We have created some social distance boundaries on the day: we are no longer providing use of shared binoculars or gardening gloves, and all participants must bring their own gardening gloves, and a reusable drinking cup if they want coffee or tea.
