Transplanting seedlings – February 27

February 27 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm

Koala event booked out

BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL!

Help us to transplant seedlings for the future of koalas! February is the time to start transplanting seedlings planted in January. Seeds planted in January have now germinated and need to be transplanted into individual pots to grow stronger.
.
During this activity, you will be given the chance to rotate through different tasks: washing pots, filling pots with soil & transplanting seedlings of our koala trees for the year: River Red Gums, Grey Box & Red Box gum trees.
.
Our team will look after them until they are big enough to be planted by our volunteers in the winter months (June, July & August) around a river near the You Yangs, so that Koala babies can have a home!
.
Join us on a special edition of our Koala Conservation Days and be prepared to get your hands dirty. Its fun and easy, and everyone can help – no matter how old you are!
.
Transplanting is very rewarding and requires no experience at all.
.
We allow 1.5 to 2 hours for this activity, which will be followed by a visit to the Brisbane Ranges with a guide to look for koalas.

Covid-19 update: This activity is limited to 30 people. City pick-up service is available with limited seats. Volunteers also have the option to travel in their own car. We have created some social distance boundaries on the day: we are no longer providing use of shared binoculars or gardening gloves, and all participants must bring their own gardening gloves, and a reusable drinking cup if they want coffee or tea.
