SUMMARY:KOALA CONSERVATION DAY: Weeding and Wildlife Walk (WILD KOALA DAY 2026)
DESCRIPTION:Weeding in the You Yangs is the single fastest way to restore koala habitat! This is your opportunity to make an immediate impact on the lives of wild koalas. \nAGE AND ACCESSIBILITY: Weeding is an incredibly rewarding activity\, and we endeavour to make it as accessible as possible. We work in off-track areas of the You Yangs forest. Some physical fitness is necessary – ability to walk on uneven terrain and bend over. If you are elderly or have physical impairments\, access needs\, or children under 12\, please get in touch with us to discuss accessibility – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \n\n\n\n\n \nRight now\, due to climate change\, koalas are having a hard time finding enough nutritious trees to survive. Boneseed infestation makes it even harder for koalas to access quality habitat. Although invasive\, boneseed is soft\, safe-to-handle and is surprisingly rewarding and fun to clear\, and all ages can do it! \nAfter successfully clearing an area of habitat\, we will embark on a guided bushwalk through the You Yangs. You will be accompanied by a Koala Clancy wildlife expert who will guide you through the park and tell you about our non-intrusive koala research and the life history of our koalas*. We also hope to spot other native species such as birds\, Eastern Grey Kangaroos\, Swamp Wallabies\, Echidnas and lizards. \n*Note: As our koalas are wild and untagged\, koala sightings are not guaranteed. \nPlease note\, this is not the sort of event you can pop in on. The locations we spend the day in are behind locked gates\, often some distance from parked cars\, and change from day to day. You must be ready at the meeting point at the meeting time\, and be willing to finish with the rest of the group at around 2.30pm \nIMPORTANT MEETING LOCATION INFORMATION \nPlease note that the meeting location for this event is Little River Reserve on You Yangs Road\, Little River. From here we will drive in convoy to the You Yangs. We DO NOT meet at the You Yangs for logistical reasons. \nIf you can’t or don’t want to drive yourself\, we offer free pickup from the closest train station (Little River). PLEASE EMAIL US to advise if you require train station pickup – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nAny questions\, contact info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nFAQs \nHow much does this event cost? \nLocals (Victorian residents): $30 adults\, $20 children/student/concession (Children 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult) \nTourists: $120 * \n* This is a subsidised event for locals\, however\, we welcome tourists to join and spend a day with locals. Please book the tourist ticket if you do not reside in Victoria. \nThis contribution goes directly back to koalas and allows us to keep doing the important research and hands-on work we do. The nature experience we provide is educational and unique. For more information about the volunteer costs please read this: https://koalaclancy.wordpress.com/2017/07/11/how-and-why-it-costs-to-volunteer/ \nWhy are tourist tickets more expensive than locals? \nThis is a subsidised event intended to educate locals (Victorian residents). Ticket prices do not cover costs\, but are subsidised to encourage locals. We welcome international and interstate visitors but ask that they pay the true cost of the experience\, so that koalas get the maximum benefit from their visit. \nKoala Clancy Foundation is a not for profit\, fully registered charity. We do not get government grants to cover our costs. \nWhat should I bring? \nDrinking water\, a hat\, packed lunch\, keep-cup for coffee or tea\, gardening gloves\, sunscreen and insect repellent. \nCan I participate more than once? \nYes! We encourage volunteers to participate in as many conservation days as they can! \nIf you are planning on coming multiple times consider becoming a member of the Koala Clancy Foundation. This entitles you to unlimited participation in the conservation days for the year and is great value! \nMembership prices: Adult $100\, Family $200\, Student/Concession/Senior $50. Click TICKETS to see this option or head to our KCF membership page \nHow can I support from far away? \nThe work that we do is made possibly by donations. Follow the link below to donate today \n\nDonate \n\nHow can I contact the organiser with any questions? \nPlease email us if you have any questions: info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nCan I update my registration information? \nPlease email us if your contact details change. \nWhat is the refund policy? \nYour ticket is non-refundable. \nAre children welcome? \nYes\, children of 5 years and over are welcome to join but must be accompanied by an adult. One adult per child please. \nCan I bring my dog/cat/pet? \nNo\, absolutely not. Pets are not permitted at Koala Clancy Foundation events. Your pet can’t remain in your car as you will not be close by. \nKoala Clancy Foundation incorporated is a not for profit registered charity.

SUMMARY:KOALA CONSERVATION DAY: Tree Planting
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a day of tree planting on the plains west of Melbourne\, connecting with nature and helping koalas – it’s an incredibly rewarding activity! If you are elderly or have physical impairments\, access needs\, or children under 12\, please get in touch with us to discuss accessibility – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \n\n\n\n\n \nSATURDAY 6 JUNE Meeting Location: Fyansford Common\, 67 Hyland St\, Fyansford VIC 3221 (also the Fyansford Hotel Carpark). We will leave this meeting location at 9:30 and drive to the planting site. Please arrive early or on time. \nWhat to expect on the day\nAfter congregating at the meeting location\, we will drive in convoy to the nearby planting site for the day. You will be given guidance by our experienced staff\, then you can plant in the company of your own family or friends\, or with the rest of the group. We aim to plant around 1500 koala trees\, which will take at least 3 hours depending on the group size. \nWe’ll take morning tea and lunch breaks (BYO food and water). This will be undercover where possible but will often be outdoors. We recommend dressing in layers as weather can be variable – we’ve planted through rain\, hail\, and shine\, sometimes all in one day! \nA lot of the properties that we plant on are large\, open fields with no facilities. We recommend using the bathrooms at the meeting point in the morning. \nFrequently Asked Questions about Koala Tree Planting\nGetting There – IMPORTANT\nThis year we are working on projects in Maude\, Little River\, Stonehaven\, and Sutherlands Creek \nDriving: All our events are accessible by car. Please note that the meeting location for our events changes depending on the project. The information on the event page can be used as an indication\, but do not rely on this information. The meeting location will be confirmed via text message the week of the event. \nThis is not the sort of event you can pop in on as we work on rural properties with access requirements – bookings are essential. You must be ready at the meeting location by 9:30am\, and be willing to finish with the rest of the group at around 2.30pm \nPublic Transport: If you can’t drive yourself\, we can arrange pickup from the closest train station to the planting site (likely Little River or Geelong Station). You will be dropped to the same station at the end of the day or one of our friendly volunteers may offer you a lift. It is essential to contact us via email at the time of booking to arrange train station pickup – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nWhat should I bring?\nDrinking water\, a hat\, packed lunch\, keep-cup for coffee or tea\, gardening gloves\, sunscreen and insect repellent. If it’s going to rain\, you might want to pack a cozy change of clothes\, too! \nDo I have to dig holes?\nNope! All holes are pre-dug the day before so that you can focus on the fun part: planting trees! \nEvent Fees\nThis small contribution covers the cost of running our planting events on the day. That way\, we can ensure donated funds are spent on what matters – trees\, koala research\, and other conservation projects. The nature experience we provide is educational and unique. For more information about the volunteer costs please read this: https://koalaclancy.wordpress.com/2017/07/11/how-and-why-it-costs-to-volunteer/ \nWhy are tourist tickets more expensive than locals?\nThis is a subsidised event intended to educate locals (Victorian residents). Ticket prices do not cover costs\, but are subsidised to encourage locals. We welcome international and interstate visitors but ask that they pay the true cost of the experience\, so that koalas get the maximum benefit from their visit. \nCan I participate more than once?\nAbsolutely! We encourage volunteers to participate in as many conservation days as they can – we love seeing your smiling faces throughout the planting season. If you are planning on coming multiple times consider becoming a member of the Koala Clancy Foundation. This entitles you to free\, unlimited participation in the conservation days for the year and is great value! \nFor more info about our memberships\, click here. \nCan I support from far away?\nOf course. Our work to save koalas from extinction is made possible by our global community of donors. If you can’t get involved in person\, your donation has a huge impact. Whatever the amount\, you’re not just making a donation\, you’re making a difference: You’re redefining the future of koalas. Click here to donate today. \nWhere can I contact the organiser with any questions?\nPlease email us if you have any questions – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nCan I update my registration information?\nPlease email us if your contact details change. \nWhat is the refund policy?\nYour ticket is non-refundable. \nAre children welcome? \nYes\, children of 5 years and over are welcome to join but must be accompanied by an adult. One adult per child please. We encourage you to get in touch with us ahead of the event to advise us of the age of your child so we can let you know if we have any safety concerns (sometimes\, we’ll recommend alternative dates in which we’re working on sites with easier terrain). – info@koalaclancyfoundation.org.au \nCan I bring my dog/cat/pet?\nNo. For the safety of your furry friend and all those involved in our projects\, pets are not permitted at Koala Clancy Foundation events. Your pet can’t remain in your car as you will not be close by. The properties we plant on often have livestock and farmers do not allow unknown pets on their properties under any circumstances. \nHave another question?
